Being aware of the unique character and special role of the high school seminary as well as the college seminary, the Diocese of Maasin enforces strict guidelines to ensure the candidates aptness and responsiveness to the program of seminary formation. Those to be considered must show adequate interest to the priestly life, express proper motivation, manifest a proper mental state, project stable emotional disposition, and belong to a family with sound moral living and solid catholic background.
ADMISSION PROCEDURES
Phase one: Mental ability and Personality Test
Before taking the written examination, the applicant must submit to the Office of the Rector a photocopy of the Grades of the previous or current school year. He must at least possess an academic average no less than 80%.
Applicants must pass the cut-off score of the Mental Ability Test and Motivation test to be considered for the next stage of admission process.
Results will be released one week after.
Phase two: Orientation Seminar and Interview of the Board of Admission
Before the interview, the applicant must submit the following documents to the Office of the Rector.
a. A recommendation letter from his parish priest and his principal. b. Photocopy of his Grades c. Birth and Baptismal Certificates. d. Marriage Contract / Certificate of Marriage of Parents in the Catholic Church. e. Medical Certificate f. Two recent I.D. pictures (2x2)
Applicants and their parents will undergo the interview. Those who pass are rendered qualified for the live-in screening.
Results will be released three days after.
Orientation Seminar
This is the final step of the admission process. The applicant has to stay in the seminary over an indicated time to have an experience of the regular seminary life.
Phase Three: Deliberation of the Board of Admission
The Office of the Rector issues out its official decision regarding an applicant through a letter addressed to the parents.
